"Caliphate" (William Breeze) versus Haenssler Verlag, Germany
In the Court case "Caliphate" versus the German Haenssler Verlag, the Judge opined in 1990 that the local German branch of the "Caliphate" had to be defined as independent from Breeze (the "Caliph") and his Motherlodge and that they did not fulfil the definition of a social beneficiary body although they claimed to be freemasonic-like. The Judge also acknowlegded the fact that there are countless rivalling bodies claiming the name "O.T.O." and therefore plaintiffs could not benefit from a unique legal protection. The Court also opined that Breeze's O.T.O. as an American body could not execute his US-rights in Germany.
